Kristin's Sea Flower Shawl debuts in Knit 'N Style Magazine, issue April 2008. The shawl is worked from the center out, starting with dpns (double pointed needles) for the 6-petal flower. When there are sufficient stitches, switch to cicular needles for the remainder of the shawl. The shape is between a half-circle and a cape. This gives you great shaping and the shawl sits effortlessly on your shoulders. The edging is worked sideways, picking up live shawl stitches as you go.
The sample is worked in only 3 skeins of Tilli Tomas Voile de la Mer (70/30 silk/Seacell) laceweight yarn. (290 yds per 50 gms). Featured below are 16 of Tilli Tomas' beautiful handdyed colorways: listed top to bottom, left to right: burnt orange, olive, deco coral, ruby wine, parchment, peaches and cream, american beauty, hope, midnight borealis, hydrangea, lillies, eternal diva, sky drop, mermaid, whisper, dusty purple.![]()
