Kristin's Knit Crochet & More Week In Review 2/29/12
Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 8:08AM I have lots of exciting news to share with you today! So, let's get started.
Reader's Choice has announced the finalists for best knitting book of 2011, and "A Knitting Wrapsody" has been selected as a finalist. Now it is up to YOU to decide what the best knitting book of 2011 is. You can vote, once per day, through March 21, 2012. Here is a link to the voting area: Vote for your favorite Knitting Book of 2011 HERE
Have you heard about the group on Ravelry called 12 Crochet Shawls for 2012? I have been chosen as the featured designer for the month of March. Everyone participating is asked to crochet a shawl designed by me, and I will be hosting a CAL (crochet along). We have the new CAL (crochet along) beginning tomorrow! The VINGA Belted Cape, crocheted from the top down, is the project I chose to use for the CAL. VINGA Belted Cape uses 8 skeins of Bijou Basin Ranch's Llasa Wilderness (yak/bamboo blend, handdyed yarn) and the kit is 25% off the whole month of the CAL. The CAL will begin tomorrow (March 1, 2012) on my blog here.
I just returned from Stitches West 2012 in Santa Clara, California. It was a wonderful show and there were so many fun activities! I taught 3 classes: 2 on seamless crochet and 1 on crocheting with fine yarns. I also promoted my books in one of the vendor's booths (Bijou Basin Ranch). I met lots of lovely people. Arriving a day early to compensate for any unforseen airplane delays, I finally found time to take a personal side trip during a business trip! I went to Big Basin Redwood Forest State Park and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! It's been on my list of things to see for many years, and it was so much fun. I posted a question on Facebook the week before I left, asking people in that area to suggest things to see. One person suggested Big Basin, and it was another person (Jocelyn Grayson) who offered to take me! Thank you, Jocelyn! Here are a couple of photos from the forest:
There were several other events at the show, and I even have photos this time! I'll put together a gallery and post a link to it here very soon. In the meantime, I have to get back to work! I am editing my next crochet book, writing and knitting my next knit book, planning the next season for Knitting Daily TV and various other projects! Have a wonderful day!
xoxo, Kristin
