Kristin's Knit Crochet & More Week In Review 9/10/10
Friday, September 10, 2010 at 8:28AM I had the fortunate opportunity to have a shipment arrive this week with Filatura di Crosa Superior and Nirvana. This is an amazing combination of luxury and I can't wait to cast on for a future design project with these beauties. Clara Parkes, Knitters Review, wrote a great review of working with these yarns together this week. Check out her review: Superior and Nirvana Yarn Review
I also received a shipment of Lorna's Laces Honor, the new alpaca/silk blend in colorway Turtle Rodeo. This is a dream to work with and feels wonderful running through my hands. I worked on a secret project with this yarn last night, made a mistake that cost me 2 hours of work :( and I think it was the feel of the yarn that made the loss of time not so bad. Really! Bad, yes, but not so bad.
I finished a shawl for THE BOOK this week with Bijou Basin Ranch's Bliss (yak/cormo wool blend yarn) that now comes in COLORS! Yes, they are hand dyed by Lorna's Laces. The colors are bright, bold and incredibly hard to choose a favorite! For this project, I chose a hot pink color called Blush and it is so pretty. I wish I didn't have to part with the shawl! It is one of my most favorite colors (besides blues and greens like the ocean).
I finished proofreading A Knitting Wrapsody this week, too. The book looks fantastic. I can't wait to talk about the projects and share the photos with you!
The yarn ordering process is 100% complete for the secret crochet book (can't talk about it yet!), and I only have a few small projects to complete and lots and lots of writing to finish up this month. A couple of yarn company designs are in the works, and I'm writing several guest blog posts and even a guest CAL (crochet-along). Speaking of guest blogs, here is one that goes live today: Hairpin Lace on Crochet Corner We have a great contest! Leave a comment under the Hairpin Lace blog post and you will be entered to receive either a yarn kit for the Hairpin Lace Shawl (free pattern available on the blog post, too), or a copy of either Wrapped In Crochet or Crochet So Fine.
On the menu:
Salmon burgers with salsa and guacamole rolled in whole grain tortillas
Tuna noodle salad, potato salad
Cobb Salad
Key Lime Pie
Hummus and mini sweet bell peppers (sometimes I think I can live on these peppers I buy at Costco)
Burgers
Tostadas with ground meat, pinto beans, shredded lettuce, salsa and cheese, salad with Blue Cheese dressing & chocolate sundaes
Note: it has been really hot here this week and I have lots of family visiting from up north. So, we have been beach side and pool side eating lots of summertime foods. I've been crocheting under an umbrella with wool, alpaca, and the sorts. Challenging? Yes. But fun nonetheless. :)
