Kristin's Knit Crochet and More Week in Review

Throughout the week, I tend to write more 140 character blips at Twitter. I went through this weeks news, links and posts and chose my favorites to share with you.

Have you seen the Crochet Dude's Purse of the Month Club (PPOM)? The July pattern is up and it is a real cutie! Click here to join Drew Emborsky's club: The Crochet Dude's PPOM Club

Brenda Bourg shared with me that you can go to your public library's website, type in your library card number and download audio books for free!!?! I love the multi-tasking capabilities of being able to knit or crochet while reading via audiobook. Definitely on my to-do list.

Ellen Gormley of "Go Crochet" wrote a great tutorial about making buttons with her kids. Not only is the idea of making your own buttons a fun idea, but a kid friendly project, too? Very cool, Ellen!

Marly Bird of "Yarn Thing" interviewed THE Norah Gaughn designer extraordinaire, mathematic genius and creative director for Berroco Yarn on her podcast this week. If you click on Marly's name it will take you to her site where you can download or listen to the interview.

Kristen TenDyke "quit her day job" and officially became a full time knit and crochet designer this week. Congratulations, Kristen! It is a big step, the job entails lots of long hours, but if this is what you love (as I do), it is the best job in the world! I wish you the best!! Congratulations!!

Zontee Hou interviewed me for the Lion Brand Yarn's YarnCraft Podcast this week. It was a lot of fun! Zontee and I met last year taping for Knitting Daily TV and I had the opportunity to catch up with her last month at the Knit & Crochet Show in Manchester, New Hampshire. On the Podcast, we talked about the two projects in "Crochet So Fine" that feature Lion Brand's Microspun yarn.

Faina Goberstein wrote a beautiful review of "Crochet So Fine" on her website. Click here to read the review
Excerpt here: "This book is another masterpiece by Kristin Omdahl. The focus of her creations this time is on crocheting with fine yarns. She proves that crocheted garments can be light and airy if it is done witha soft and lightweight yarn combined with the choice of a delicate stitch. While I am looking at Kristin's book, I know I am going to make something that I will wear and enjoy the compliments along the way.

Dora Orenstein of Crochet Insider wrote a beautiful review of "Crochet So Fine" on her website. Click here to read the review
Excerpt here: "Kristin has always brought a special eye to crochet design, bringing together the beauty in geometry, great stitching technique, an artistic eye, and lovely fashion sense."

I get a lot of emails asking me what knit and crochet garments I am wearing on the set of Knitting Daily TV. I uploaded photos from "On the Set" of Knitting Daily TV and set up a photo gallery this week. Each photo is listed with a detailed description of the episode name, what I am wearing and where you can find the pattern for what I am wearing. Click on this link to check out the gallery: What is Kristin Wearing on Knitting Daily TV Photo Gallery

Stitch Diva Studios is having a contest to win a free copy of "Crochet So Fine" and offering a 15% off sale on yarn kits for the 2 projects that feature Studio Silk: Sprout Chain Shawlette and Chains Bucket Hat

I added two new stitch to my Crochet Stitch Glossary page: The Crochet Popcorn and Beginning Popcorn Stitches.

I heard from many people this week who are making their first projects from "Crochet So Fine". I am so excited to see photos! It is so interesting to me how my designs and patterns are only guidelines and that there is so much variation in how people choose to interpret them with yarn and color choice, and so much more. One particular person who contacted me has the CUTEST name for a website: www.afrayedknotknits.com The reason I like the name so much is because when I was a little girl, that was my favorite joke! My uncle is an excellent joke teller, and this was my favorite joke he told.

Knitting Daily TV begins airing right now. Check here to see if and when it is on in your area: KGTV Schedule In Your Area

In the event that it is not on in your area, the DVD set for season 5 is now available: KGTV Season 5 DVD

Did you sign the petition to restore the Gulf? It is a campaign to alert your local government officials to the importance of the situation to YOU. www.restorethegulf.com

Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows I LOVE inspirational quotes. Here are some of my favorites for this week:
"Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else." ~Judy Garland

Your breath is your soundtrack for your life. ~Uncle Rush

"Begin to see yourself as a soul with a body rather than a body with a soul." ~Wayne Dyer

"Things turn out best for those who make the best of the way things turn out." ~Jack Buck

"Constantly look for the good in people and in situations. When you find it, tell the person." ~Bob Proctor

Have a great week, everyone!!

Dear Ms. Kristin,

Thank you for your kind reply and I'm so happy.

I have tried to find the downloadable version of the book Crochet So Fine, unfortunately they are not free.

If you could email me the pattern for Chain Bucket Hat only, I really appreciate it.
I can see that the chain bucket hat is quite easy, thus quite perfect for crochet beginner like me.
And yet, even though the hat is simple to make, but it looks elegant to wear.

Thank you for your attention and warm regards from Jakarta,
Gaby

Hi Gaby,
The patterns are exclusive to the book. If you change your mind about the book, I would be happy to share the link with you again.
Warm regards,
