Kristin's Latest Knit Design in Vogue Knitting Fall 2009 Magazine
Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 9:40AM The preview of Vogue Knitting Magazines Fall 2009 issue is online today. My latest knitting design is featured in this issue: Cut Out Pullover in Be Sweet's Bamboo yarn.
Really lovely yarn, but in order to really make the fabric perfect, I had to drop down to a US3 (3.25mm) set of knitting needles. It makes for a little more work, but the finished project is SO WORTH IT!
I know I say and think this from time to time, but I think this is my favorite knitting design of my career. I don't often have time to knit for myself, but if and when I do, I want to make this sweater for me. I think I will make it in black though. I think the cut outs, while modestly placed, will be a little sexy in a black top.
The edging is all worked in garter stitch. Garter stitch, by nature, is wider than stockinette, so without doing any increases or shaping, the edges are just a little more relaxed at the hem and sleeve. For an added (flare) fullness, I chose not to seam the garter stitch cuffs. Garter stitch is non-curling and therefore needed to extra attention. Just don't seam and voila! you have a finished edge. Nice and easy. I llke that!
