Day 2 of 30-Day Crochet Challenge
Posted on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 9:00AMI made my 2nd square yesterday, and decided to modify the free crochet blanket pattern a bit. I want to join the motifs as I go, instead of having to sew up all the squares in the end.
Click on thumbnail for larger imageHere is a photo of the 1st and 2nd squares joined together. I numbered the joins on the photo. Notice that 1 marks where you will join in the first corner. With the right sides facing of the square you are working on (yellow) and the already completed square (green), instead of working 3 chains in the corner of the yellow square, you will work 3dc, ch1, slip stitch into the center of the chain 3 space on the green square, ch1, 3dc. The (ch1, slip st, ch1) is the equivalent to a ch3 in any other corner. Ch1, work 3 dc in the next ch1 sp, but instead of working a ch1, you will slip stitch into the next ch1 space on the green square (#2 on the photo). Repeat by substituting the ch1 with a slip st to the green square until you get to the next corner. Work this corner (join #5) the same as you did the last corner (join #1). Continue around the square for the remainder of round 6.
Stay tuned. Tomorrow we will join the 3rd square!
