New for Spring: Kristin's Knit Sweet Lily Lace Shawl Pattern

Just in time for spring, check out Interweave Knits Spring 2009 magazine. Kristin designed a lace shawl called Sweet Lily Lace Shawl for the magazine. The shawl is knit sideways, utilizing short row shaping within the lace. The Beyond the Basics article about short row shaping in lace is also written by Kristin Omdahl.

The magazine arrives on newsstands on Tuesday, February 24, 2009.

Finished size (after blocking: 80" wide at top edge, 34" long from top to point.


Here is what you will need:


Yarn: The Alpaca Yarn Company Suri Elegance (100% Suri alpaca; 875 yards per 100g skein); #2015 blue blood red, 1 skein

Needles: size 8 (5m); 24" or longer circular. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: stitch markers; smooth, constrasting waste yarn for invisible cast-on; tapestry needle.
Gauge: approx. 12 sts and 16 rows = 4" in lace pattern, after blocking; exact gague is not critical for this project.
