Day in the Life Blog Tour with Kristin Omdahl
6:00am get up, take a first glance at email and get in the shower
6:30am get the family going and make breakfast: egg beater omelettes and fruit smoothies (strawberry, blueberry, banana), plus a bit of spirulina when no one is looking!
7:00am make sure everyone is dresses, teeth brushed, hair combed, snack and homework packed into book bag.
7:30am shuttle everyone to school
8:00am arrive at Starbucks with Powerbook, ipod and headphones, Namaste knitting bag, notebook, mechanical pencil and calculator. Note: I should do all my writing on the Powerbook, but I am 'old school' with my pencils and notebooks. I have volumes of notebooks with sketches, ideas, notes, and cherish them all. At least I don't throw them in the garbage! Note to self: practice using the computer (or iPhone notepad) instead of paper for lists, at least
Order a soy chai latte, xtra water
Draw schematic with dimensions for crochet lace sweater. Write chart (with shaping) for a knitted shawl. Write out the line-by-line instructions based on what is drawn in the chart.
Answer some email. Write some fresh email. Sketch 2 garments (one textured cardi and one lace dress) with dimensions for future projects.
Order a venti Passion Iced Tea, no classic (no sweetener)
Work on a knit lace project that makes me very happy (top secret - I only WISH I could talk about projects when they are fresh and exciting). By the time a project can be talked about, I've already worked on a dozen other garments and patterns.
Check my Ravelry messages and forums. Check my Facebook account. Send some facebook plants (I've saved almost 20 square feet of rainforest already). Google alerts email shows me that Wrapped In Crochet has shown up in many online storefronts, including Amazon.com, Target.com, overstock.com, and others. The official launch will start at the Interweave Press web site first, and then I will talk about it here!
11:00am Head for home to get some housework done. Stop at the store to pick up fresh chicken, corn on the cob, garlic bread, and salad stuff for a bbq dinner tonight. Splurge on a key lime pie.
12:00pm answer more email.
1:00pm turn on Days of Our Lives for "background noise" while I crochet a new hairpin lace sweater. Its shameful, I know, but I've been watching this show for almost my whole life.
2:00pm Lace shawl blocking (since last night) is ready to ship. Package carefully and get ready for the post office. Answer more email.
2:30pm Leave for the post office and to pick up family from school.
3:30pm Participate in the homework process, make a snack and get ready to go to the park
3:45pm arrive at the park with family, insulated bottles of water (we stopped buying plastic water bottles a while ago) and my Namaste knitting bag. Continue on hairpin lace sweater while cheering (and referee-ing) an impromptu basketball game.
5:00pm arrive back at home. Make dinner (purchased above). Family dinner hour is so fun!
6:00pm Clean kitchen.
6:30pm Answer email. Reply to Ravelry messages.
7:00pm read our newest Magic Tree House adventure story of Jack & Annie to a very interested, albeit sleepy, audience. :-)
8:00 - 11:00 knit and crochet to my heart's desire. Tonight I will finish the lace project, block it to my blocking board, work on the hairpin lace sweater, and weave in loose ends of a sweater that is blocked and dry. Also, tweak all revisions to the 3 new Kristin knit and crochet patterns that will debut this weekend with Tilli Tomas exquisite silk yarns.
11:00 - 11:15: check off items from today's to do list, write a new to do list for tomorrow
11:15 - 12:00: read in bed. Tonight I am reading The Game of LIfe and How to Play It, by Florence Scovel Shinn. It was gifted to me by a very special person!
