Click on thumbnail for larger imageKristin's latest design for Interweave Crochet Magazine is the Dots Blanket. Each dot is a simple circle crocheted in the round. A final round is worked with long chain loops. When all the circle motifs are complete, you lay out the color pattern for the blanket and "finger crochet" the loops together to join the motifs (aka No Sewing!). While the joining technique is a bit different than traditional methods, after a few tries it is a really easy technique to master.
Kristin's sample for Interweave Crochet Magazine, Spring 2008, is crocheted in Blue Sky Alpaca's Organic Cotton (in color Sand); the 4 pastel colored dots are crocheted in Blue Sky Alpaca's Dyed Cotton (colors honeydew, azul, orchid, thistle); the joining (finger crochet) loops are crocheted in Blue Sky Alpaca's Dyed Cotton (in color graphite).
Finished size: 56" x 46"
Tools required: crochet hook H/8 (5mm); yarn needle; scissors
Here is Interweave Crochet Magazine's description of the blanket: Simple circles joined with finger crochet result in a playful cotton throw.
