Long overdue update

Whew - was August a busy month! Between cramming all the summer activities in that we could, sending out a zillion design proposals and meeting tight deadlines, I fell a bit short in the news department. So, here is the long overdue update:

211509-458668-thumbnail.jpgI designed a beaded lace shawl  for the Alpaca Yarn Company. The shawl was made out of one hank of the luxuriously soft Suri Elegance (100% suri alpaca, 100gm, 800 yds). The shawl is a half circle, with delicate silver beads along the border and an interesting placement of a lace edging. The shawl is very lacy and I am so excited for it to debut. I will be selling kits to make this shawl when it becomes available. The kit will include the Suri Elegance Shawl and the beads.

211509-458561-thumbnail.jpgI'm working on another project for Alpaca Yarn Company. This project used their Paca de Seda Yarn (80% alpaca, 20% silk). Its a worsted weight and has an amazing hand. It is so soft and the colors are gorgeous, too. I chose brass and autumn orchard for the project I'm working on. I am calling it a modified twin set.  I don't want to give too much away yet, but just think about flames, campfire, toasty warm and fun. That's all I'm going to say.

211509-458542-thumbnail.jpgI designed a beautiful, romantic tunic using one of my favorite yarns: Henry's Attic Carrera (formerly called Silk and Ivory). Its a fingering weight yarn 50% merino wool, 50% silk. I have designed several shawls using this yarn, and sell a couple of kits with this yarn, too. The tunic is crocheted, has gorgeous, flowing lace sleeves, an empire waist and a sexy low neckline. I can only show a sneak peek until further notice.

211509-458549-thumbnail.jpgI sold several designs to a book publisher for a knitted gift themed book, due out next year. There will be a knitted lacy moebius, a reversible knitted afghan, and a child's cable knit sweater. I will post photos when I can. All three projects used Plymouth Yarn. The moebius used Yesterday and Eros, the afghan used Yukon Print, and the child's sweater used Cleckheaton's Country 8ply (superwash wool).

I have several other book publishers proposals to go out in the next month. I have several ideas for each book, so they will be hefty proposals. And, I'm working on an entire book proposal that I am extremely excited about, but haven't told a soul. I need to do a lot of sketching (which I love to do), but can't until I meet just a couple more deadlines.

211509-458566-thumbnail.jpgLast, but certainly not least, is Tilli Thomas. Who doesn't love Tilli Thomas? I received a package in the mail this week with samples to swatch for a project we are working on together. I sent out a couple design proposals a while back using this yarn and OMG it is so cool. I've worked with the Rock Star, Disco Lights, Cleopatra, Nile and now I have the pleasure of sampling Asteroid, Mogul, Aspen and SimplyHeaven.

CrochetMe Fall 06 will have a crocheted, beaded handbag that I designed. I will be selling the kit here, and have several other handbag patterns and kits that will debut around the same time.

I'm sure that I've missed something, but check back soon. Come fall, we will have lots of new yarns and kits available.
